New Year’s Resolutions
A recent report from a Journal of Clinical Psychology cited the following statistics regarding our so called New Year’s Resolutions …
- Nearly half of American adults make resolutions each year
- 75% make it past 1 week
- 71% go beyond 2 weeks
- 64% last a month
- Less than 46% make it 1 year
If you’re trying to break a bad habit or begin a good one … If you’re struggling with addiction or trying to find your purpose …it doesn’t appear that a New Year’s Resolution is likely to RESOLVE much for you.
The Real Revolution
Knowing may be “half the battle,” and speaking may be a necessary act of faith, but when it comes down to it somebody has to take ACTION!
When this world was hopelessly bound by sin and headed for destruction, our Lord KNEW it, He SAID it, and therefore He RESOLVED that something must be done. But, what happened next was far greater than a new covenant or resolution. Jesus took action to change everything! He started a REVOLUTION by dying for our sins!
A New Start!
Romans 5:6 – You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Vs. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. Vs. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (NIV)
Jesus forgives sins, destroys addictions and offers a worth that far exceeds self! And He’s willing to do this while we’re in trouble! Now, you can encounter this revolutionary Jesus at your home, in your car and of course at your particular place of worship, but if you have NOT yet experienced His power, truth and love, let me encourage you to go beyond just another resolution. Take action.
